About Fishwife

Owned and operated by Key West native chefs and commercial fishermen, Fishwife is deeply rooted in the island’s waters and community, offering an authentic taste of Key West's best flavors.

Fishwife (noun): Dating back to at least the 16th century, the term arose from the harsh environment women faced while selling fish at local markets. An often difficult, competitive, and physically demanding trade, a Fishwife was known for her sharp wit, strong voice, and no-nonsense spirit as she called out the day’s catch along the docks.

Today, she’s reimagined as a bold, salt-kissed woman of the sea—part shucker, part storyteller, and keeper of the freshest catch. Rooted in coastal tradition yet full of modern charm, she brings the ocean to the table with grit, warmth, and a little edge.
